Default more power?

I'd like to breathe some new life into the old girl. What can I do that is safe and easy? Something cheap that I can do by myself..
I consider myself mechanically inclined but resources are limited.

THanks..

man buy like a number 5 fuel plate if you have a manual trans its pretty easy to install there is a video on you tube on how to do it. i had a 95 with a five speed and put a five plate in it and it made it like a whole nother truck. all i had was the plate and a straight exhaust and i could run all over the new 5.9s 6.0s and chevys

Well thats saying quite a bit, considering how slow the 12v is stock, and how quick the 6.0 is stock

1. AFC
2.Star Wheel
3.Smoke Screw
4.GSK
1.AFC- Air Fuel Control found above the fuel plate
2. Star wheel- the name of the wheel that adjusts spring press in the AFC
3.Smoke screw- AKA the pre load screw found on the back of the AFC, it preloads the AFC spring
4.GSK- Gov spring kit, most common are the 3,000 rpm kit and the 4,000 kit. The GSK controls what rpm the pump fuels to, and how responsive the truck will be.
