Thank you guys I'm gonna try it this weekend. My local napa stocks them but what 83 bucks for them. May have to go to fleet pride after work.
Please keep us posted if their is a difference.

I have dynoed back to back runs with a BHAF(Fleetguard filter)/Mallory Mount(thestainless steel heatshield a former TDR member made for us back then) and AFE Stage's 1 and 2.Both of my AFE's had the Mega-Cannon filter(or Inverted Top as they call them now) and the Stage 1 also had their 'torque tube" on it.
I seen little difference in Intake Air Temps between them all when checked and the AFE Stage 2 with the Mega-cannon out horsepowered the other two by 14 to the ground. The Stage 1 was 6hp better than the BHAF and the BHAF was slightly better than a stock airbox with a drop in K&N.
Which one is better, well that should be decided on what your wallet can handle. If I you have choices and can handle the added expense I would say buy the AFE Stage 2,but,the BHAF will do the job also and is one of the most under rated systems for our trucks.Just make sure when you use a BHAF you have a good seal at the neck and you do not drop it onto the factory airbox studs and tear it.If your not going to make a heatshield for the BHAF its best to cover the exposed factory airbox studs with a acorn nut to limit any damage to your aif filter.
