Default Which gasket for O-ringing head?

I'm getting ready to tear down my 2nd gen 12v and get the head O-ringed. Thinking I was thinking ahead, I ordered the studs and a replacement STOCK head gasket. I was under the impression that O-ringing used stock gaskets and fire-ringing used modified gaskets. Weeeeeeeell, then I open up my new Diesel Power mag this afternoon and see that they O-ringed the Rust Busket and used a .020 over gasket.

So, question is, do I need the oversized gasket, or can a stocker be used?

Being that I only have a few days I can get off to get this done, I'd like to have all the parts ready before the head gets back...

Yeah...looks like I might not O-ring the head anyway. Turns out none of the nearby shops do O-ringing, just fire-ringing.

As for Rust Bucket, March 2010 Issue...just got it in the mail today.

Yeah, you can use the stock head gasket. The .020" larger one is referring to the thickness, which will lower compression a little bit.

You can use the thicker gasket if you want to drop the compression a touch.

Alot depends on how much they took off of the head when they milled it.

Many will run a .010 or a .020 marine gasket instead of a stock gasket.Again it depends on how much of the head was milled to make it flat.

On mine I run a .020 marine gasket becuase of what was taken off of my head and I want the compression lowered a tad for higher boost levels.

Thanks guys!
