It changes the molecular structure of the material being treated. It will allow the molecules to contract and tighten up, and thus givving a more even, smooth dispersion. It can dramatically strengthen a given item.

AS for having the block and everything treated, I don't know, but for the price, if its torn down already, I would do it just to learn.

They have been doing it to gun barrels for a long time too.
I read an article where the magazine had a barrel done.
They were givin a tour etc, when the barrel came out the swapped it and alot of black crap came out of it.
It was supposed to be the impurities in the "grain".
The rifle had never been shot.

the only thing i would worry about is how the piston rings would react to the treated metal, and if it would do anything to the main bore, distort it or shrink the saddles, but it shouldn't cost much to have it checked out at a machine shop.

I doubt it would do anything......They do it to guns to make them more accurate.
After all in a gun barrel a bullet is just a piston going down a bore, it just never comes back to top dead center LOL

Only one way to find out though....
