Default HX35 R.I.P.

My original quarter million mile HX35 finally decided it had enough of the 370's and 191's last week and I am in the market for a new turbo.

I have no plans to hook it to a sled anytime soon, I rarely tow anything over 2000lbs. & I dont use it as a daily driver. I do like to **** off with tuners and Mustangs (well, OK, Powerjokes are my favorite prey).

I think I have enough fuel for a 64/14 but I have read that they dont really light under 1700-1800 rpm, so I am thinking I will need a 4k gs kit when the charger goes on. I was kinda worried about this thing taking all day to spool up but is it really that big a deal with a 5 spd?

Advice?

You should have enough fuel for that turbo but it might be a little laggy. I really like my 62 from sheid, it lights very quick an does great an is something you might want to look into. Its also a good start to a good twin setup later on.

I know a guy that is selling a 64/71/14 for $800 here in Ohio. PM me and I'll get you his name and number. He a good guy and works at Redline Diesel Power in Burbank. I was going to snag it but it's a little to much for me being my truck is a DD. It would be great for you though I think.

62/71/14 or a 64/71/14, 64 will spool just fine would help out if ya had a lil bigger injectors and did some good tuning. But if it were me id go with the 64. 5 speed helps out a lil bit with the driveabilty around town.

From what I have read a 64 is more than enough for any street drivin truck that like to play. Mine may have one this summer still haven't decided.

I picked up the 64/14 on Sunday. He also sold me a sweet HTT exhaust manifold and downpipe for another $350. I rode in his truck before we pulled the parts and hit HARD! I can't wait to bolt this stuff on!!! I know I will eventually get some better injectors but the 370's oughta work for now.

He had a tweaked VP44, big injectors and a worked over auto that locked up tight. Helluva test ride... I grinned ear to ear when the charger lit, broke both back tires loose at 40mph and buried the speedo beyond 110 in a few seconds. In a word... awesome. Thanks for the heads up on that beast Duster!

The w/g wasnt hooked up on his 24 valve and he was making around 54psi at full stride. I know I will need to get that hooked back up and dumping at about 45psi or I will be buying head studs and gaskets way sooner than I want. My next purchase will be a 4k gov spring kit and some 60 lb valve springs.

Am I hoping for too much to expect 450+ at the wheels with this set up?
