Default got the timing set to 15* and KDP done.

So now that thats done, i need another timing pin. Mine was just a nub left on the end and it was very agrivating tring to feel it drop in place. So if any one knows of any good places to get one let me know. I would like a metel pin one instead of the plastic though if it is out there. BTW truck runs better now, seems smoother and not as much lag..but it could just be me too..i didnt notice any odd noises after i did it though.. its not any louder,,i just heard it would be.

I also screwed up and didnt fully tighted down the crank sensor so when i drove it home the thing fell down on the damppner and sheared off about a 1/4 inch of it....but it still works fine i put it up bout a 1/4 inch above the dampner and tightened it down.... Any idea if that sensor runs anything important in my 97 12v.. i figured it just ran the tach but i could be wrong. Thnaks

Crank sensor also triggers the charging system.

I know a place who used to carry the timing pins in metal and I will make a call and see if they have them yet or not for you. They make doing the timing alot easier as you do not need to worry about snapping them off or ruining the end.....Andy

thanks the tach still works and the batts are gettin charged so i would say it is good to go, just have a little bit of the end of the crank trigger missing... That would be sweet to get the metel timing pin. thanks again

find top dead center and put a mark on the damper, its quicker and easyer than that timing pin

would that be totaly acurate as far as the setting timing? i guess it would be but i still would rather have a timing pin also to be dam sure it is top dead center.

The timing pin on the back of the pump doesn't account for wear in the gear train either. Some of the pins have been out by a couple degrees. When we did my timing, we determined true TDC on the engine doing the valve drop method and then verified the pin was spot on. After that it was a breeze and you know you are on the mark.
