Default Tranny won't shift right

Just picked up truck to do a swap in my 1/2 ton dodge. 94 12v w/ auto trans. If you take off hard from a dead stop the truck seems like it is almost hitting a rev limiter and not shifting quick. The worst is it won't shift from 2nd to 3rd until 2500 rpms then when it shifts it pulls hard like it was shot out of a cannon. Please let me know what you guys think i'm not a tranny guy and new to this motor.

what the actual problem in you have no governor springs.when you mat it,it tries to hold the gear and when it gets over 2000rpm's it starts defueling and has no power so it takes forever to shift, mine does it too, till this weekend.and he's right when it takes off like a rocket that is the convertor locking up.you need a lock-up switch and you can make it pull like that in 2nd and 3rd gears too.

yes it would, that's why it doesn't,it starts defueling so it can't get the full fuel, and boost starts dropping,it would help more than you would think, you won't even think it's the same truck.
