Default DTT

Does anyone have any experience with DTT transmission parts? I can get a good deal on a DTT triple disk and valvebody and Im wondering if I should pull the trigger. The truck is a 98 12valve auto 4x4. The mods that will be coming after the trans work is a 4in exhaust, S&B intake, 3gsk, and a 10plate. A triple disk should be able to support that no problem right?

The important thing to find out is: is it a DTT built tranny or does it just have DTT parts?

DTT used to only offer single disk converters. When did they go to triple disks?

DTT makes great transmissions and parts. They have had triple discs for a while now. The main thing to keep in mind is that a triple disc is very heavy. When upgrading the torque converter make sure you upgrade the input shaft and flex plate as well

Is that really necesary on a mostly stock truck? I wont be hot rodding it or anything like that, its just a daily driver with some towing for work.

Then a triple disc is overkill. I would only run a single. Triple disc's can lockup pretty hard. Stock inputs have been known to break, even with just a tighter converter. And the flexplate is a pretty weak point when you add a heavier, tighter converter

Thanks for the heads up! The truck is mostly stock for now and the only mods it will see for the next couple years will be an exhaust, intake, fuel plate, and maybe some injectors and a new turbo. Will the single disk be ok for supporting that? After that when the mods start to get more extreme Im going to get a built trans.

Single disc will support 5-600 horsepower. Unless you plan on some major power a single will be just fine.

12 and 24 valve VBs are sometimes not the same and the TCs sometimes have different stalls. Find out the specs and call DTT to make sure it will work.
