Default gov kit & valvespring prob

i installed my hd valvesprings (12) today then installed my 4000 gsk and didnt actually understand the measure the gov stud to the spring. so i just tried to count the revolutions. well its idled way up around 1150 so i guess i need to back the springs off a lil. do i need to do both sides???? and im pretty sure i got my starwheel to far cranked, does that cause when i go to rev it up to spit and sputter as it revs but.. if im runnin down the hwy and push the go pedal she acts pretty good. is backing the springs down a lil and turnin the starwheel down gonna clear me up??? and does any body else's valvetrain click superloud now that they got hd valve springs??? thanks

I'd back them off 2 clicks on both sides and see how it idles and runs.

Both sides need to be set exactly the same also.

You measure how much the stud sticks out.

The clicks should be noticeable...

initial and three clicks seems to run great. you can almost just use your finger nail if you push down on the springs. Just feel for the clicks. Every click id worth roughly 100rpm higher. if that helps at all.
