There's a bolt in the rear end of the bracket that holds the shut off solenoid in place. Just loosen it about a turn and it will pivot real nice and easy like.
If your tranny isn't upgraded with at least a valve body and good converter, you'll be buying a complete trans before long if you get carried away.
It hurts, but $1500 or so now will save you loads in the future.
As far as your AFC question, it all depends on how you have the rest of your truck tuned and what you're looking to accomplish. With stock injectors and turbo, most folks slide the AFC housing all the way forward. Most loosen the starwheel a bit as well. The function of the AFC is to control fueling at no to low boost situations. There's lots of tuning time involved to get one set up perfectly. Remember, too much fuel will put the fire out.
I'd suggest sliding your stock plate and AFC housing forward all the way until you get the tranny beefed up. Adjust the starwheel and smoke screw to your liking. Even with this little bit of modding, you're gonna **** off a stock transmission if you're not careful.
