Default Upgrades

I'm knew to this site (diesels in general). I have 1998 dodge ram 2500 ext. cab 2x4 5.9l 12-valve cummins (stock) and am interested to know what would be the best performance upgrade for the money? I bought this truck a few weeks ago to pull our camper..(only 8000lbs). I know this truck stock should have no problem towing this weight ...but am still interested in upgrading the power in this motor...any help would be appreciated.

Before you start adding power I would invest in a set of gauges. Atleast Boost and EGT.

Guages fuel plate trans mods, GSK, Injectors, DVs, 4 inch exhaust and intake or bhaf, Turbo, Head studs etc this should put ya anywhere from 350+. I would get some gauges then grind my plate. What trans do you have?

I have an auto trans....but what do you think of this TST? TST = More Power ....if this is installed do you have to upgrade other components to get the max from this plate? Of course the tst website talks good about it ...but havnt heard ny real time people talk about it ....money is fairly tight ...but would sacrifice for the right improvement...where do i begin? jeesch!!!

You can make your own fuel plate by grinding your stock one. The fuel plate and its position make a big difference. Throw in a couple turns of the star wheel and you will have an entirely different animal under the hood.

You are also in luck as far as gauges go. read this thread: https://www.dieselbombers.com/group-...group-buy.html
You will need boost, pyro, and trans temp for your truck. They are also pretty easy to install yourself.

you should also read this thread https://www.dieselbombers.com/5-9l-1...te-lesson.html

And this one https://www.dieselbombers.com/5-9l-1...-12-valve.html

that should give you everything you need.
