Default fuel fuel fuel...less of it??

My 96 has been together for a couple months now. Its only had less than a hundred miles on it but it runs great. I was geared more for performance but after having to tow i dont want to do a whole lot more to it. Its got a brand new 180 pump with 4 kgsk, stock dv's and a #6 plate, SDX 5x12's, AD II 165 and a new industrial 62/65/12. I wanted to do compounds later on down the road but now i just wanna drive it. The biggest load behind it was a 26ft tilt bed and a large frame skid. It pulled it just fine but it could get a little smokey if your not light on the pedal. I dont know where the plate is set because it was installed by industrial and im pretty sure the afc is stock. My question is, can i set the afc for full fuel at 30 or more psi and that take care of the lower rpm smokeyness? Or do i need to ditch the #6 for a way less aggressive plate?
Thanks guys!

you can pull some of the bottem end smoke out of it with a good AFC tune but it will always be smokey pulling a 26ft trailer and you will loose a little grunt off the bottom aswell if your arnt heavily fueled to start with, nature of the beast. your set-up sounds pretty good. good turbo size nice size injectors and my favorite plate. do you have a good intake/filter and 4 inch exhaust?

It can all come down to your skinny pedal... i just use my mirror and get light on it if i intend on towing, but i get what you mean.... my trick is to let it breathe if going uphill... rev 2000rpm no matter what i'm towing...

Good stuff thats input i was looking for! All i have for a intake is a BHAF. Also running the stock intake horn. It does have 4 inch exhaust too. Im a little gun shy when it comes to messing with the afc, but i'll try it. I guess if i feel like i lost to much low end grunt i can always turn it back. I do like the #6 plate to, it just makes me pay a bit more attention when towing. Would towing compounds be the best option for egt control? I like the set up but i feel like im constantly watching my egt gauge when towing. I would like to not have to worry as much about it but maybe im just paranoid because its a brand new motor.

Twins will definately work, but a larger more efficient turbo should also work if twins are too pricey. Sounds to me like ya need to stuff more air into it.

for what you are describing compounds are not needed at all. compounds are for guys that want to street 600 hp and occasionally pull a trailer. up to somewhere just north of 500hp is totally doable with a decent size single and you can still use the truck for what it was ment to do.
