BY pass fuel pump ideas?
Everyone knows the relative hassle switching out the fuel filters on the 94-98 trucks. Rather than buy Genos($$$$$!!) relocation kit my idea was to put a filter in front of the stock filter and I assume I would need a second(electric) pump to feed that new filter(eg one of the Baldwin 2 micron units?) because pumps work better pushing fuel than sucking fuel. I don't know what kind of pressure the P7100 needs for normal and/or higher output so I need to pick a pump with the proper flow and pressure. My 97 has a dump bed so access to the tank and lines is great. The plan is to change the pre filter and leave the stock alone. anyone have ideas or criticisms?
Sounds like a lot of horsing around to make filter changing easier. With what you are describing you might as well by a airdog set up and be done with it. You will have the cost in parts anyways by the time you are done trying different things getting it to work.
I have one that is just sitting in the garage if you want it. Its a prime lok, took it off my 97 when I put the airdog on. I hated the dang thing, it was just something extra to unbolt and try to swing out of the way to do pump work.
