posted in another thread but figured it would get looked at more here


I am looking to pull the trigger on this

Gray 2005 Dodge 2500 HD Diesel 4x4, A/T - P/S - P/B, power seat front, tilt wheel, CD player, sprayed bed liner, 4" lift, 35x12.50 Dick Cepek, new tires, tow package, step rails.

68k miles, original owner, dealer maintained and all service records.

what should i look for on the inspection/ test drive

im a jeep guys needing a truck. front end stuff dosent scare me just no real diesel knowledge.

i do know he has a super chips on it to correct the tire size and he has it set to econ tune (done by the lift shop he has no idea how to use it older gentleman)

a picture to keep interest


any information would be great

Check stopping, acceleration. What I always do is get on it and I mean hard and see how it shifts through the gears and listen for noises and then hit the brakes pretty hard see how it stops. Just check regular fluids oil, tran, power steering, anti freeze, and air filter. With that low of miles and being an older gentlemen I wouldn't be to worries especially if he has records of maintenance. Loo for leaks as well. Good luck looks like a nice truck.

thanks!

i carfaxed it and all the information matches what he said. he followed the maitance schedule to a T.

my worries are what i read about injector problems and such. i cant see paying 2-3g's for injectors right after purchase

Check/ keep an eye on the track bar on the front suspension, it's a common issue on these trucks and easily upgradable.

If theres an ijector issue it will white smoke or haze and be "making" oil. But if it has been dealer maintained it def would have been caught. I wouldnt worry about it too much

thats a beautiful truck, i got my 05 in with the same situation, old man owned it and followed the maintnecse dates to the T he even took the truck to the dealer to get tires and windsheild wipers replaced, i got mine and never looked back best truck ive ever owned especially with the HO engin which i didnt kno anything about till after i bought it, how much is the asking price? i got my truck 3500 4door 4x4 dually fully loaded for 12,000

well tried to look at the truck today and the guy had stuff going on. he needs to find a ride before he lets this one go. going to look on friday. great guy tough situtation.
