In either case its rebuild or replace. You have to find the problem first.

A different turbo is going to be cheaper than digging into the engine. A compression and leak down test will tell you if that is needed.

Like I said before, pull the tube from the turbo to the CAC and look for oily residue inside of it. You may just have a turbo seal leaking. If it is blowing into the turbine side it is a lot harder to diagnose.

You have to start somewhere so do the easy stuff first.

Just depends on the shop and their rates. That will be very localized s all you can do is shop around. I would contact some of the medium duty truck dealers that as Cummins certified and see what they can do for you. They probably can't connect to the computer but they should be able to do the mechanical tests like a leak down, and, they generally have a lot more experience looking for porblems.

my 05 is doing the same thing i noticed it looks like it might b leaking oil from the front of the engine

I appear to be having the same issue with my 2005 Dodge 3500 5.9 CR. Did you determine the cause? I'm also in Spokane WA, Did you try Cummins Northwest?

Took radiator n intercooler out n found the crank seal was leaking replaced the seal hasnt leaked since
