can anyone tell me the difference between the 48re and the 618 automatics?

when people call our transmissions 618 they could be talking 1994-2007. Transmission builders generally call them all 618's, where us in the diesel industry call them 47's or 48's.

I think also the 618 isn t a lock up tranny were the 47 and 48 do lock up. I do know a lot of the parts are the same.
