Whats your best MPG?
@ sandman. get off your soapbox bro. you really think your the only person to ever go to war and get shot at. getting shot at for a year doesn't mean you dont have to follow the rules. save the cursing for the badlands.
I am in the process of trading my 01.5 2500 for a 2004.5 3500 equipt just like yours, and was wondering about milage. I don't know yet which rear end the new one has but my old 2500 with a 3:54 and a Edge w/a set on tow or level one got 10 mpg pulling our 9k toy hauler. I would think the difference between a dually and srw might be 1 mpg.
I had it for a week. Been in the shop longer than in my possesion. Between the body work from the blowout and then finding out that it needs upper/lower ball joints, both front u-joints, hubs(since they have to heat it up to get the ball joints out because there siezed in there from rust), rear transfercase output seal, and right side tie rod end/ draglink. Thats the list as of now.
The new truck has 3.73 gears and they are good for me. This might sound strange but I'm thinkin when I go up to 35s it will get even better mpg with the lower over all ratio since the truck has plenty of power for towing it. I'm guessing it should be about a 3.55ish ratio with the bigger tires.
I know getting up there in mpg is a pipe dream. Especially with a QCLB. I just wanna see whats helping and hurting you guys out there other than your right foot.
have 06 4x4 3500 5.9 411 rears only mods done so far are K&d cold air intake keep trk 55 to 60 mph and tack 16 to1900 rpm, and can only get 12 to 14 mpg. trk has 48 re trans with OD. How can i get 20mpg like you guys are talk'in...:
Those are some pretty low gears for fuel economy, 3.73 is a pretty good gearset for the long haul. Those 4.11's are great for towing though.
Do you live in a hilly area or the mountians? Cuz that will kill diesel milage quick fast and in a hurry. Olympia is fairly flat.
Oh and Im usually runnin 70 down the highway.
I have a 2005 Dodge std cab longbed 4wd w/62k miles, I drive roughly 350 miles a week city and freeway to and from work I let my truck idle for 5 minutes during ea. warmup. I stay up on all oil changes air filter cleaning and fuel filter replacements. I do run Howes diesel conditioner/ injector cleaner. I run a Bills Custom cold air intake with S&B conical air filter full 4" exhaust cat delete the truck has a 4" lift with 35" tall Toyo mud terrain Load "E" rated tires I run them at 62 psi. My truck with hard calculation is 20.09mpg yet the trip meter reports 21.9. Hope this info helps
