Default question conerning charging system on 06

What is the cable that goes from the postive aux. battery post to the selenoid mounted below it called.

Also what would cause this wire to mealt the coating and the wire has a whiteish look to it?

Yup that's the one. The coating is mealted back and the wire has that whiteish color that metal gets when it has been burnt.

That's for the grid heater.

Ok the light on the dash has been coming on and going off since I bought it why would that be happening. Also would this drain my batteries both down?

Light shouldn't be flashing, only comes on when the grid heater is needed. The volt gauge will fluctuate though. May want to have the starting/charging system tested though. Any parts store will do it for free.

Will it hurt anything if I just take that cable off for now and run the truck?

Check where the wire ties into the grid heater. You have or had a short to ground. As long as your above freezing your ok to disconnect it. But it will throw a code.. It will drain your batteries! get it fixed asap.
