OK, so I headed out of town, got close to Billings, and I thought my dog started farting. I pull into NAPA so I could get my charging system tested. Head out to my truck, I open the hood, and what do you know, pass side battery is smoking. Alt tested good, even though the grids were cycling. But I don't understand, his computer didn't show the battery was shorted out.

 

weird, time to get a new set of batteries, not worth messin with in my opinion, I'm gonna go ahead and blame north dakota weather

 

how where the posts and cables? Clean or corroded? If all the juice from the alt is going to one battery while reading on the low battery it will smoke it! Cause dirty connection! Just my thoughts!

 

I've seen under the hood of his truck, it's almost as clean as a brand new one, including the terminals, so i think he just has crap batteries

I ran those before Ty, they weren't that neat IMO.

 

oh shucks, way to spoil it for me, i'm gonna see if CAT has a battery that'll fit in the truck with like 1200 CCA's cause that would be sweet

 

What brand? Im still on my original Mopars and have always run Mopars and always will
