Default Common rail questions

Ok so im not real sure if this is where this belongs but i am tossing around the idea of getting a common rail and i know some about them and the paperwork i guess, but is there a certain year i should look at or is there some problems with a certain year? Like for example the first gen duramaxs had injectors problems... I leaning toward 04.5 and up just because of the looks but im just kinda tossing the idea around right now so im trying to gather some info. Thanks for any help in advance.

the exterior looks (headlights) didnt change until 06. and I want to say the interiors changed in 05.

about the only difference I know between the two is that 03-04's generally get better mileage.
