i have an 05 reg cab 4x4 and i get about 17-19 mpg about 75% highway driving. i have upgraded my tranny to a fully built race tranny though it was running around 20 mpg before i did the tranny swap. if you plan on running the dodge stock just put a better TC in the tranny and you'll be fine maybe turn the pressure up a little on the valve body. other than that i have had my truck for 2 years and have 58K miles on it and nor problems yet and beat on it everyday. towing, racing, sled pulls, burn outs

My choice would be the Dodge. Hands down the most reliable motor between the two. My brother had an 05 Excursion with a 6.0 and it went through both headgaskets, an EGR valve, can't count how many ECM reflashes, and an Injector in 35K miles. On the other hand, my cousin has an 06, had a Bully Dog on Extreme since 10K (now has almost 70K on it) and it hasn't even seen the shop. Very hit an miss with the Powerstroke 6.0L trucks. I still like the Ford for looks over the Dodge, but I still can't get past the motor.

I dont know what to tell ya - I dont really like anything on the market now...they ALL seem to be expensive and unreliable. I still waiting for the day I can walk in the dealership and buy a new 12V. :se:

piperca 11-06-2007 11:07 PM

I'm with you on that ... good to see your still around, Shane.

Yank your chain ... me .... never! :w2:

Well, it looks like the wife wants me to keep the existing truck and get myself a commuter. I do a bit of driving now, which has a tendency to eat up the fuel. I guess a little four cylinder gasser would probably be a better choice ... for her! And here I was thinking I was getting the O.K. on a new(er) truck ... stupid Andrew! Damn, it would have been nice to post a picture of that PSD ... just for you, Shane! :tttt:

If you were going to go with 7.3 Id say have at her. I wouldnt mind one of those myself. To be honest, this 12V has given me way more trouble than my 24V EVER HAS.

Besides, youve put way too much work into that 24V to give up on it now.

Dont be a stranger Andrew - Uncle Bubba get so lonely !!....  lol
