Only use ATF +4 fluid. I tried running Dextron 3 and tranny shifted like crap. I now put some Amsoil ATF +4 in it and it seems to shift a little bit later and firmer but I dont mind.

Go with Valvoline at the minimum. Or if you can afford it, go with Amsoil.

Local if you got a supplier near by. Or if you can wait a few days, Heath can get ya some coming. He's the supplier for this site.

ATS said my setup holds between 24~25 quarts of fluid.

assuming this number is for a completely new/empty system.

any suggestions on how many quarts or gallons i should purchase?

I would ask them since its under their warranty. If it messes up running something they don't approve of they may decide to ditch your warranty.

If they put a double deep pan on it will take about nine quarts to refill after a drain, assuming you don't empty the TQ converter. I like to loose the valvebody and let the converter drain so it'll take closer to 20+ quarts, depending on how much stays residual in the lines, cooler, etc.

from ATS:

The entire system holds 24-25 quarts. You can use any brand as long as it meets at least Dexron III standards.

how do you access the valve body?
