bulb New 'LARGER' Air Filter Installed!

I finally got my new air filter installed. I have been working on this for a long time. I had to move the battery over to the left side. That turned out to be more of a project than I anticipated.
So far I like it though. I shouldn't have a problem getting all the air I would ever need. Only thing I have noticed so far is that the exhaust brake sounds much better. The hiss is gone and now it is just a deep rumble. Sounds much better. Running around empty I would swear the EGTs are lower. I haven't been able to tow yet so that will have to wait to see if they are lower than before.

It is a 2422 from NAPA. I was surprised to get it for $32. That is about $2 cheaper than the BHAF I had before. If you don't know about their sale check this out: https://www.dieselbombers.com/genera...tml#post622399

Now, what do I call it? So far all I can come up with is a VBBHAF (Very Big Big Honkin' Air Filter!)

LOL,
You guys are fun! In all honesty, I don't know if it helped it or not. It seems like my EGTs are down but so far I have only pulled very lightly. If I can get time to take the toy hauler out again that will let me know (That thing is HARD to pull!).

I won't be going any larger! (And believe me: I thought about 'ducting' it and mounting it somewhere else.... Just couldn't get that to work.) In fact, when I replace it I will probably buy one about an inch or two shorter so I don't have to use the Cobra air fitting (90 degree elbow) to shoe horn this thing in there.

I did it because the BHAF that we all use didn't seem to get me enough air. My filter minder would still max out at around half throttle. I don't think it will be doing that again anytime soon! As for mileage, this truck has always done poorly. New it got 14 - 15 off the lot (And that is empty!). Everything I have done to it and working it hard as I can for the last 60,k it is up to around 16 or 17. I guess I should stop trying to get any better. I have a lot more power than stock now so at least I didn't go lower than before I did all these mods. If you have ever wondered how poor of mileage a Cummins could get: When we brought the toy hauler home, we got just under 6. After all the mods we get between 8 and 10 with it now.
