Default Quick Tranny question

I was looking at buying a upgraded VB and in a small caption it said for the 03 some of the earlier trucks came with the 47re. So my question is what build date did they stop putting these in. Im in my office at the moment or id get my build date. Or is the tranny model stating wether its a 47 or 48 on the info tag some where?

Look at your build date, Jan 03 and newer were all 48RE. Only exception is if the truck was started before the Christmas break and finished after the new year. If you have a Jan 03 build date check PN stamped on the trans pan rail for actual unit designation.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with a 47E until you want to start pushing more lots more power. They react as well as 48 with moderate upgrades. The 48 just has beefier internal pieces stock but they frequently get replaced in a performance build. If you really wanted to a 48RE will bolt in with no problems or changes.

Check your VIN if the 8th number is a C then it is a 48re. Thats what I was told.
