what tranny does the 04 high output have
#2
While your question is a bit vague as to output, there are really only a couple of issues. What components are used internaly and who the builder is. All else is external, torque converter and input and output shafts. And of course the stall speed depending on what you want the truck to do.
Just my opinion, your's of course may vary.

With the 03's and early 04's, the S.O. trucks could be had with either the 47RE auto or the NV-4500 5-speed manual. The H.O. equipped trucks could be had with either the 48RE or the NV-5600 6-speed manual. After 04.5 the S.O. and H.O. monikers were dropped with the introduction of the Cummins "600" and only the 48RE and NV-5600 were available. Half way through 2005, the Cummins torque was raised to 610 lb-ft and the aluminum-cased G56 6-speed manual replaced the cast iron NV-5600.
