Well with an early 04 you dont have the third injection moment which is very nice not to have to deal with it. In customers trucks i commonly see the best mileage out of the 03 and early 04s . They usually have less problems with injectors than later models too. In my opinion the 03 & early 04 common rails are the ones to own. As far as the transmission goes they will last as long as you let it. By that i mean if you try to put 125+ extra HP through it the stock transmission just wont last too long. If you are looking for what i consider the best transmission out there I would contact Dave Goerend with Goerend Transmission. his website is simply GOEREND.com . I have been running his transmission in my truck for years and the only thing that has broke was the output shaft which we left as a stock shaft for a weak link. We did that so hopefully we could minimize the damage to a simple and cheap replacement part. Now with that being said in my transmission he built it with his converter and valve body , billet input shaft , billet front drum , and the intermediate and output shafts were stock. I also have stock clutches in my truck. Now it doesnt sound like a lot but those billet parts add up really quick. As far as handling power though my truck makes 700+ HP with 22.5s and 40 inch drive tires. so the transmission as far as I am concerned is the best one you can get.

Keep it next to stock and it will do you a very good job. 50 extra HP will not do any harem to your truck if you drive it like it should be. Good luck.
