Default hit a fork in the road, need some advice/input

I have an 04.5 with a 149k on it, had a goerend built trans put in bout 5months ago. Next is head studs, and a programmer, My concern is longevity, I want to go to biggwr turbos an all the goodies that go with it , but i wanna get all the use i can outta the truck for as long as i can.. how muchshorter will my engines life be if i were to make it a 500-600 hp daily driver

There is no way to make a quantifiable number on that. Too much relies on how you drive, how you use it, etc. It WILL reduce its effective life without a doubt, just no way to say how much.

The other thing you need to think about is you won't be using 550-600 HP with a daily driver. If you never use more than a nominal 200 HP, it theoretically should last as long as a stocker. Its what you do in the non-DD that will reduce its life expectancy.

Sure, but what do you consider ridiculous miles?

The ISB is considered a 750k motor before a rebuild is needed. Thats under normal medium duty use and maintenance. One would think it should easily beat that in a light duty application. However, driving style an maintenance will play a large part in the longevity, as well as luck.

How many times do hear or see somebody comment they are rebuilding their Cummins cuz it wore out? There 12V's running around out there with LOTS of miles that aren't wore out but the truck fell apart around them.

More often you will hear "used a K&N filkter now motor is dusted" or "my injectors went bad and filled the crankcase with diesel after running 80% on MP8" or "lost an injector towing and now have lots of blow-by".

We have way more to worry about the electronics giving up and not having replacements than the engine giving up IF WE don't do something stupid, even if it is capable of making 600 HP.

These motors won't live long at a constant of much than 400 HP, cooling system and oil cooling is not adequate to prevent failure. You cam 600 HP on the track\Dyno for bragging rights and as long as maintenance is done correctly and you don't flog the beasty to hard it will last a lot longer than the rest of the truck.

goerend trans, 3disk torque convertr, billet input shaft, an beefed up valve body, still need output an flexplate. I looked at ats, goerend, an suncoast. I heard ats products were great, but their customer support/serice sucked, suncoast heard altogether mixed things, an ive never heard anything bad bout goerend so i had them build it...

oh also goerend's trans had a 3yr 300,000 mile warranty on parts but not labor

You def went the right way getting trans done first! Most fry their tranny after rough treatment with a programmer then have an expensive rebuild. 48re's are tough but factory rated at 800 ft lbs of torque. Your Goerend is probably twice that. Good job.
