Default over reved it....ooppps

i was enjoying my truck today when i was going thru the gears and by being a dumb young kid went a little to hard on it and hit 4000rpm, im nervous because i have not put hd vavle springs in my truck yet....on another note when this happend, my e-brake warning light came on and stayed on untill i hit the breaks? kinda strange? did i do damage to my valves and pistons? or am i ok because it was for a snap second and the motor had only 50,000 on it?

Well if it's still running fine and no new noises your probably ok. Don't do it again until you get springs. Don't wanna drop a valve.

Nah they are pretty tuff you should see what some of the race trucks look like after a run down the track! I've seen pistons with valve indents that would make an average guy faint! But they just put the head back on and ran it said the pistons are pretty bullet proof and can take alot of abuse!

ya, i could believe that, im more worried about the valves being bent or nicked.... cant turn back now, just got to prevent future damage, we will see, someday when im not working 6-7 day weeks i can start to enjoy working on things again, its been so long since i could relax and turn wrenches. always seems like a rush so i dont bother at all besides the routine maintenance

if you bent a valve or put a hole in the piston i think you would have noticed right away
