How many miles are on your truck? your friend is most likely correct. i would put your truck on a lift/jack stand and just rotate the tire back and forth, if you here the noise or see movement in that joint...bingo bango its the u-joint easy cheap fix if you do it right and keep the wheel bearin in one pice when you remove it! make sure that you buy the amaerican greaseable joints, they last much longer! unless you do alot of 4x4 launches buy the solid non greaseable ones, they will take a beating and wont be prone to snapping

There is 41,000 miles on the truck, thanks for the help.

Check the ujoint in the axle. Easy fix. My truck has 136,000 on it and I've had to replace the drivers side three times... They're fairly inexpensive, $58.00 at o'Reillys. Finally said the hell with it and bought a new axle...
