Default Need help diagnosing this please!!!!

So i just bought my new 2006 3500 DRW with 100,000 on it with automatic trans. and been running great and pulling good except for today. I hooked up to my 45' gooseneck trailer and loaded my 17,000lb telehandler on it with two pallets of shingles on it. My old 2005 3/4 ton SRW pulled this just fine. But when i went to take off on a slight incline it would not go anywhere. I had to lock it into 4-low just to get up the incline. got on a flat surface and put it back into 2wd and took off then a nasty vibration like a shutter started all the way through first gear then went away but it was like it could not do it. It felt like the tranny was slipping really bad. So could this be a bad torque converter or is the tranny toast? I checked the tranny fluid and it looked fine but smelt really burnt. My dads 3/4 06 SRW pulls it just fine too so i know it is not to much for the truck. So is my tranny bad? I have a 2 yr bumper to bumper warrenty with the truck so not to worried about it but i might just go aftermarket if it is. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Afraid you would say that what would be the best build for me with pulling? Goerand is right here within bout five hours and my dad bought a tranny from them on his 99 and it was wicked but i don't think warrenty is gonna cover a aftermarket one but i need to call them on monday.

That sucks! I hate to hear your already having problems with the new ride. Most extended warranties won't cover aftermarket items. There are ways around it if you can get a shop to work with you. They will pay to rebuild or replace the factory tranny, but not a "performance" one. You might get the shop to bill them for the price of a stock rebuild and pay the difference yourself. I did that on my 98 12 valve. Hope it all works out for you. I am still trying to resolve the death wobble issue on the 05. I guess I will keep throwing money at it until it quits!

You definately have a slipping TC. You could warranty fix it until you have the cash to upgrade, or see if the dealer will work with you and pay for their part of the aftermarket trans. Goerend is a great trans, I know several that have them and I have installed several also.

Well i just talked to my warrenty company and they are willing to cover most of it
The guys and gals at goerend are talking with them now and we will see how it turns out. i have my mechanic looking at it today and doing a gentle flush on it and gonna see if it is maybe just bad atf but talking with the warrenty company the guy said they would maybe cover a little bit more since i do tow and they figured it would probably go out again if i went stock so they were gonna see the cost difference and let me know
