Default Tach Fluctuation

I just noticed something unusual today. I was sitting in the truck with the engine idling in park. I glanced down and noticed that the tach was reading in the 650 rpm range instead of the usual 750. As I sat and watched, it was jumping around a little bit, never more then 50-100 rpm, anywhere from 550-750 rpm. The engine rpm is not changing at all, just the tach reading. If I take the engine above idle it seems to go away for the most part, maybe a 25 rpm fluctuation or so.

Engine runs nice and smooth so I am doubting that it is one of the sensors as I am sure the ECM would be letting me know if something was wonky.

Anyone experience anything like this?

06's had a tach issuse and this is how it starts for the most part. If your one of the lucky ones, it will soon barely work at all. If its still under warranty take it in and have it looked at before you have to buy an new cluster on your dime. Also try a search on tach issures in the CR section and lotsa info will pop up.
