Default ambient air temp sensor, 04 cummins

Bought a truck on ebay got it delivered and had to immendiately take it to the shop.

The shop fixed almost everything, but could not figure out the ambient air temp sensor code. The shop stated that they couldn't find it, but they believe it should be in the exhaust manifold. I wasn't sure about that and I think they are confusing it with the sensor for the overhead console, but what do I know.

The truck is: Dodge Ram 3500, 5.9 cummins, 2004, 73,000miles on it, looks like the engine had been swapped though.

Any ideas that someone might have would help immensley...I am just totally frustrated.

Are you trying to find out where the air temp sensor is?

If i read that right that was the question...

This section of the forum is more for a "Hi, my name is"

If you post this in the Cummins sections you will get more views and assistance too.

Welcome aboard though!

Welcome to DB
You'll get a better response if you post in the Cummins section, but I'll see if I can get you pointed in the right direction.
If I'm reading correctly and the code you're getting is for the ambient temp sensor...on mine it's on the drivers side mounted to the radiator support. (I think that's where I remember it being) That ties in with your thermometer on your overhead display.
If your mechanic doesn't know the definition of"ambient" (outside air temp),I think I might want to look for somebody else to work on my truck.
The only temperature sensor you're likely to find in the exhaust manifold is a pyrometer probe for your exhaust gas temps, and that will only be if the previous owner installed one, as it didn't come from the factory that way.
The only other sensor on my manifold, and I'm not positive yours has one, is the exhaust pressure sensor.
