Default dead 05

ok here it is, my friends 05 was running fine went to dinner in it shut it off and it would not start again, he had a new lift pump installed in the tank,still dead, took truck to dodge in pilot point texas, they said his entire fuel system was contamiated w/ sand and everything needed to be replaced w/ new from the fuel tank to the injectors, and that he also has a stuck open injector, to the tune of 10 grand to fix it, truck has exactly 100,035 miles on the money, and said they would not help out on the warranty due to he had ran red dye in it , system pumps fuel to the back of the ve pump, w/ cranking i can get the rail pressure to 800 psi, and it will hold overnite, should get way higher once running, dont have any codes to go with here, {no reader} is there a kill relay or switch somewhere that could be the problem? also truck is stock, from nose to tail, no programmers either, this is my first go at a common rail so any help will be greatly appricated, i am a 12 valve guy and a mechanic so im not scared to tear off in to something, i will try about anything

Ten grand! Thieves, frigging stealerships!
have you changed the fuel filter? How much pressure is the LP putting out?
I would fight the warranty, did you see the red fuel? Only 35 miles over warranty they should still cover it!

Ive seen this many times all the time with dogde duramax and the new 6.4 ford with common rails the dealerships love to use the contamination loop hole its hard to fight It can be fixed for less than half that the tank needs to be removed fuel lines flushed, rail flushed dealership will try to replace when your payin then injetors replaced Ive done it on a couple for less than half that in waco tx ... stealerships LOl scottsjeepprolet you got it right

yup stealerships is rite, but got a code off the truck today, P-2509 dealer here in granbury wont give me the definition, they want it brought in so they can do a more complete diag for 125.00 bucks, bunch of bums do they not realize that some of us are actually actual mechanics/techincians and not a bunch of parts changers,

That's an ECM/PCM Power Input Signal Intermittent or "Powerdown Data Lost Error."

It's usually nothing to worry about and will clear itself. It can be caused by a low battery or leaving the ignition key in the run position without the engine running for a period of time. But check your grounds to be sure.

Damn man how did sand get in the fuel system. If that is true, it sounds like it might just be the root of the problem... what would happen if you put sand in the fuel system on a 12 valve??!

I have heard of dye diesel voiding warranties pickups several times, especially in the past few years. It sucks, nothing you can do about it.

it actually is just small particals of dirt that collected below the filter in the housing,they were more pissed about the red dye, tried to say the red stuff is not the rite fuel for the street due to the sulfer content, ITS THE SAME STUFF!!!! they just add a dye pellett to the tank before they load the fuel in that compartment, and heck i pull out bigger pices of dirt and trash in my preheater screen than what he has

i dont think that truck is shot because of dirty fuel. check it out good before spending money. yes most red fuel is the same just has dye. only a very few locations maybe none at all now that has higher sulfur content.

No kill relay. If there was an ECU problem you would have some codes.

The 800 psi is way to low. You need 5-7k rail psi to start the CR trucks. Check rail relief valve and see if is is leaking. Unplug the FCA and see if it will throw full rail pressure on start up. You can disconnect the grid heaters and give a shot of ether to see if it will start also.

Sounds like either an injector problem or possibly CP-3 issue. You will probably have to run an injector flow test to see if they are bypassing.
