Default Grinding calipers to fit 16.5" rims

How bad of an idea is it to grind the calipers down a bit to get 16.5" rims to fit? I have heard that it is no big deal, just minor grinding is needed to get 16.5s to fit...

the reason i ask, is my friend said that once his tires wear out, he wants new rims on his 2nd gen and that he would sell me his centerline wheels for a couple hundred bucks but they are 16.5s.. Thanks

Why do you want 16.5" wheels?

If you offroad at all they pop the bead real easy and its getting harder and harder to find tires for them.

To even consider this makes no sense to me.

just asking as i dont know... why would a 16.5 pop off beads easier than a 17?

my reasoning is because i really like his wheels and he is selling them to me for dirt cheap so....

I would not even consider it if it was my truck.

Your going to need MAJOR grinding to fit these rims. Plus I've never liked the idea of taking material off a critical part of the truck needed for safety.
