Default Slip Yoke

Ok guys, ive got a good one for you. My slip yoke is leaking oil. I thought it was from the seal on my transfer case, but my transfer case is brand new, less than 1k miles on it. This leak is what caused me to trash my last one. Anyway, the leak is actually at the back of the yoke where the knuckle mounts to it to attach the driveshaft. Are these things just pressed together? Is there something that seals it up that is replaceable? The only oil coming out of it is from behind the weight, right in the center of the yoke, the u joint is wet with oil.

Its the rear driveshaft. It is leaking back behind the balancer ring thing, not around where the yoke goes in the xfer case like you would think. The oil is coming out right where my ujoints are. It is a very slow leak. I think there may be a small crack in the back part of the hollow part of the yoke

No, it slips in the transfer case. It has the balancer ring on it and after that your ujoints bolt to it.

Bout the only way to see if it's cracked is to have it magna-fluxed. Could also be a bad seal to.

Is there a seal in the actual slip yoke? Its not leaking at the tranny seal. Its leaking out of the slip yoke in the area where the ujoint goes on, right behind the balancer ring. I figured maybe the ring is pressed on and theres a seal in there

On the slip yoke, there is a ring that threads a dirt/grease seal into place. Should be isolated from any/all oil. Pull it all apart and see what it looks like.

Update: The oil was coming from a plug that goes in the back of it. It is basically the same thing as a freeze plug. You cant buy it anywhere that i found. I guess you could just pull the slip yoke and clean the inside real good and put some rtv on there if it happens to you.

Also, if you buy a new slip yoke, go ahead and get the whole driveshaft, its only $20 more and includes BOTH ujoints
