dontneedtostroke, was yours only throwing the code or was the engine doing some weird stuff? Right now my truck idles fine, starts good even if it's, doesn't knock, or smoke.

A cummins that doesn't knock or rattle - must be broken? LOL... Honestly, on the new trucks most of the troubles are injector related.

Fuel relations are problematic from the CP3 to the block but you have already established that. I would wonder if it would make sense to install at fuel rail pressure gauge for testing purposes and see if it is raising within specification under load?

3 psi on a new truck is low and not within specification from Dodge if my memory serves. I recall that 4 psi is the lower limit for their flow rate calculations. Installing a real fuel lift pump will solve that. I love my FASS but it is for an older truck. Yours should be healthy with an idle pressure of 9 psi. If you aren't getting that on your gauge you may have delivery problems as well.

Another way to measure performance of the lift pump, albeit not specific, is to record your boost levels under load. If you truck is running as it should I would expect to see boost at around 7 psi while cruising and as high as 34 under hard accelerated load. If you stand on it and only get say 10 psi you know you are not getting any fuel to burn.

PS: Welcome to Bombers!

At idle I'm getting about 9psi from the lift pump. ltr450, if by injection pump solenoid you mean the fuel control actuator I have tried 2 already.

Ok, does the dealer know anything you don't? Have they done a leak down test from cold? What about pop testing the injectors themselves?

injection pump solenoid controls the injection out put pressure. it is on the back of the pump. you could also check the flow limiter. the flow limiter prevents continuous injection in the event that one of the injectors stick in the open position.

I wish the dealer would know more than me, cuz I am by no means a pro on diesels. I have changed the solenoid which I believe is the fuel control actuator on the rear of the pump with an electrical connector. This may sound stupid to some, but how and what is an injector pop test and what is a leak down test from cold? Where is the flow limiter? The only other thing on the CP3 I know of is the cascade overflow valve but I'm not sure where it lives or if I can replace it with the CP3 still installed on the truck. As far as the dealer is concerned I have little faith in them because when they reflahed the ECM they lost the memory and I was out of a truck because only chrysler tech could help them get it back.

the flow limiters are on the bottom side of rail there should be six of them it where you lines hook on.when a leak occurs the flow limiter plunger is forced away from its at rest position up against the seal seat at the outlet. it remains in this position up against the stop at the injector end of the flow limiter and prevents fuel from exiting to the injectors.
