Confused and Need an Expert - Exhaust Question
I need some education. I have a 2006 Quad Cab 4x4 with an Edge EZ and S&B intake. I believe the '06's already have a 4" exhaust on them. If I wanted to improve my fuel economy and performance would upgrading with a new exhaust system really make a difference? If so why, and explain the difference between a cat-back and turbo back exhaust system and the advantages/disadvantages. I am looking at Silverline which looks like only makes a cat-back system and MBRP which makes a turbo-back system? I know this is a lot to ask, but I am really confused. Thanks in advance.

Even if you changed to another 4", aftermarket have smoother bends, and less restrictive mufflers. Turbo back also will get rid of your cat (huge restriction). I would get the turbo back for sure. You will notice an EGT drop, a little more power (not much) and a little better mileage. Probably 1 or 2mpg Do it, its worth it.

Save yourself some money on the exhaust kit, buy a muffler delete kit and gut the cat if you are after fewer restrictions and a different exhaust tone. I know a few guys around here that have done this and their trucks sound great but I have not had a chance to ask them about the mpg gain.

I have the MBRP SS catback and it came with enough left over pipe to cut the cat out and weld in the straight pipe in it's place. This is on my 06. It sounds great and runs much smoother and getting a little better milage as well. It just feels like the truck can breathe now. I had the catback a few months before I deleted the cat and I wish I would have done it right away. My truck sounds great under acceleration but on the highway even with a trailer it is nice and quiet
