wasn't the old trick about the ATF supposed to be for clearing out your injecotrs? I've heard of OTR owner operators droppin a quart in their fuel tank if they were havin a promblem with an injector. I hear it smokes like hell but will save them from having to replace the injector.

If you have a problem like that and PS911 doesn't solve it then I would suggest you have bigger problems. Running AFT would cause things to stick (pumps and injectors) to the point where you would be spending $$ to fix it all.

Personally, it is something that may have worked years ago and may still work on an OTR but for a grocery getter or a daily driver (non-hauler) this is not something you want to even consider in my opinion.

ATF has detergent properties and can be useful as a cleaner in the right application. In the old days it was added to a fuel filter when it was changed to clean out the pump, lines and injectors. It worked pretty good in that application but those were manually injected diesels. Do not add ATF to your electronic trucks!

I think the additive debate will go on forever. As I understand it the biggest issue with ULSD is that the additive is added to the truck as the fuel is poured in. Maybe that has changed, IDK. But I don't feel like relying on that human element. People forget the most mundane things; I can't trust them to remember something as important as this. Using a quality additive doesn't hurt anything but your wallet.

I mixed the oil and fuel and it does seem to run smoother. But it kinda seems to take a little away from the power. Does it take a lil power from yalls?

I use a quart at every fill up. I use the smokeless/ashless non synthetic 2 stroke oil that was actually meant to be burned with no ill effect. I did not notice any loss of power although it would be really hard to tell in my truck. I also use about 8 oz. of silver PS at each fill in the Summer and Winter. Recently though, the last couple fills, I haven't put any 2 stroke oil in and haven't really noticed it.

Default fuel additives

it is my opinion that using anything besides a quality additive is a waste of money. in theory, since the flash point of trans fluid is higher than that of atf, adding atf will reduce power. this is because thermal energy which should be going to move that piston is now being used to ignite the atf. they both have different burn rates. this results,"in theory[mine]" that the flame front will slow down resulting in less power. the sulpher that was removed did many things. it lubricated the injectors. it prevented algae growth. yes, algae grows in diesel fuel. it also raised the cetane rating for the fuel. it also helped lower the gelling temp. these are all reasons why a quality additive should be used. which one is the million dollar question. i use ps products. ps911 does not clean injectors. use it for clearing up a gelled engine. their web site is very informative. they are not the only manufacturer but they seem to cover all the bases. theur web site is Power Service Products, diesel fuel additives, prevent gelling, clean injectors, disperse water, boost cetane, reduce emissions, improve fuel economy . i work for the post office at a vehicle maintenance facility. ulsd fuel can gell in the thirtys. it does not require sub-freezing temps. winterized fuel does take care of this but not the other issues. i do not trust the oil companies to make sure my truck has enough lubricity in it's fuel. added properly, ps costs pennies per gallon, and is available at all wall-marts. add it before fueling so it mixes with all the fuel.

Running PS Silver in my 06. Haven't really noticed any pros or cons but I don't trust the ULSD to lube everything on its own.

I have been running 2 cycle in my 06 and have not had any problems, I only put it in when I remember, not every tank and I only put in 14oz per tank. It quieted down the truck and helped the MPG some. For the low cost of it per tank I think it is worth it. I used to run PS but have not in over a year now.

Does the 2 cycle really help make more smoke?
