Default P0111

Check engine light came on last night, got the scanner out and read the code;

P0111 IAT Sensor CKT Range/Perf

Cleared the code and didn't come back on, but what's this all about and where and how much for a new sensor?

I had the same code, it went away for about a week, then truck started running real rough and mileage got real bad. Took to dealer, found sand and metal shavings in the injectors. I was running on 4 cylinders. $8,300 and 6 new injectors, feed tubes, fuel pump, fuel lines blown out, gas tank dropped and cleaned, new sending unit and injection pump and it runs great!

Nope they detected my chip in the ECM and I had to claim under insurance. I was opnly out $500 for the deductible.
I am going to get rid of my quadzillla and buy a smarty.

Imacumminz, I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but what did; sand and metal shavings in the injectors, have to do with getting rid of your Quadzilla and buying a Smarty. I wouldn't having a Smarty Jr. myself.

I'm guessing because the Smarty is supposed to be undetectable once it is removed and set back to stock settings
Where other chips are detectable and void the warranty

Jazz is right. I was looking for something equal to the Quad but not detectable. I have heard all good from the people that have the Smarty and they guarantee it. I do not dislike the Quadzilla, it works very well and I have had no problems. but from driving a buddies truck w/Smarty i cant tell much difference other than the above.

Imacumminz, Once the Dealers have detected you truck having a chip, it may be put into their system and your warranty be void anywhere you go, sorry, I hope not, I may be wrong.

To get back to my problem, when I started this tread. I was advised to buy some spray sensor cleaner and clean my 2 air flow sensors (I think that's what their called), The one next to the air filter and the one top of the engine next to the air horn. Also I was advised to clean them every 20,000 miles. This will improve fuel mileage. It's been a good two weeks now after cleaning them and no codes and it runs excellent, nice and smooth.

Worked it out with the Service manager to claim on insurance saying that someoone put sand in my tank. (vandelism). That way they didn't claim against warranty. Now all the work they did is under warranty and the Quadzilla is very hard to detect, as long as it doesn't throw codes to give them clues.
And by the way, the truck is currently back at the dealer getting the new lift pump replaced again. This time under warranty. They keep find sand in the fuel tank and this time when they tested the fuel it would not even float the hydrometer.
I have been buying fuel at the local WalMart but I will refuse from now on.
