Default 2003 overdrive issue

My 2003 dodge 2500 with the 48re has an issue with overdrive. It shifts fine from 1-2, 2-3, and at 50ish feels like it shifts to 4th. The issue is it only drops a few hundred rpms like 200-300. I have change the fluid, filter, and the sensors inside the trans. Any Ideas? Could it be what I am feeling is the TQ lockup at 50ish? I am around 2500 rpms at 65 mph. Oh the trans in the truck is purple in color.

I have read that it could be a overdrive piston seal. Anyone agree? Can I have just the overdrive unit rebuilt or is it time for an overhaul?

My son has this exact same issue now. He originally just had poor shifting. He changed the Transducer and upgraded to a BW solenoid and fresh fluid. Transmission worked like new. A short time later, while driving, he lost 4th (OD) and lock-up. He also had intermittent ABS and Brake Lights. He took it to the dealer and they diagnosed that his Power Module (TIPM) had failed. They replaced it and all the lights and codes were gone and the truck seemed to be fine, however once out on the highway it would not go into OD (2000 RPM, 50mph or 80klm). Lockup is fine in all gears. He then replaced the OD solenoid and still no shift. We have removed all of the connectors, inspected all the wires and pins and everything looks like new. Transmission has 175klms (100k miles) and has not been abused in any way. Not sure what to chase next? Any help would be appreciated. Dave

I had this happen with 75k on stock rebuild- OD clutches were shot so the piston could not operate properly. TC engaged in lower gears but not at hwy speed. There's a chance just the snap ring went but if your gonna get in there prepare for an over haul!
