Default New turbo time

Looking to buy a new turbo for my 2003 to replace the stock he341. Looking for a cheap upgrade like a he351 or I could get an upgraded hx40 which is what I'm leaning towards and I love how they sound. I'm only looking for a few more psi somewhere in the high 30's and lower egt's than stock but I'm on a budget and can't drop 2 grand for a turbo

i dont know about the hx40, but with the he351 you dont wanna go past 34ish psi. any more boost then that, then you are just blowing hot air. so you might wanna do some some research on the hx40 to see if it able to handle your boost goals.

I've read a lot of people run above 40 but you can break the the turbine shaft by pushing them to hard which I don't plan on doing but that still scares me. I just love how they sound and I don't really need much more boost I'm I'm making lots of power with 30 psi I'd just like a few more and lower egt's but I need to stick with a cheaper stock turbo. I'm hoping someone more experienced will chime I on the hx40

the 351 does flow better then the 341, so it should help you with your egt's. how high are your egt's getting and when are they getting that high? you have a programmer, if so what one?

HE351 is basically an HXsuper 40 compressor wheel in a tighter more responsive turbine housing. standard hx40 will be a lot of fab and parts to make it work and it will not be as good as an he351.

Super B is pretty much = to HE351 for ability to support HP, but with a little lower EGT.

Talk to the guys at Industrial Injection. There are a bunch of alternatives, one being the stock housing with aftermarket internals. the advantage to that is that you wont need to change the downpipe. They set me up with a phatshaft and compatible downpipe. spools a little slower, but way better than stock when towing heavy. all told, my cost for both was around 1300. The turbo is wastegated at 45 psi, but will push more if i feel the need. Your mods are similar to mine, I think you would be pleased with a phatshaft.

by the way, I still have the stock turbo from my '03 h.o. It boosted just fine when I removed it. If you want to experiment with it or use it entirely, let me know. I'm not looking to get a ton for it, just a reasonable offer...

They don't hardly ever get above 1450 but that's an aggressive tune just for street racing and gets turned back down after i make a pass. I run a smarty ssr so I can really control a tune and I don't make tunes really hot like a lot of people.
