Default Is my truck dying? Please help

So the last week temps have been cold and I've been in my truck several hours a day for work so my truck has been idling around three to fours a day. This week temps are great I fill up with fuel( yes I put diesel in it ) and go for a drive after about twenty minutes on my way back to town I come to complete stop and the lay into it and let it eat, it never went over 3200rpms. After reaching roughly 115 mph I start backing out of it. Once around 2100 rpm I notice the truck is driving itself like on cruise control and starts sputtering and white smoke out the exhaust. Was two miles from home so headed there I would have to shift to neutral to stop at stop signs it would idle very rough and sputter and still smoking white shift to drive and give it some pedal it would go to 1500 rpm and chug along ? What the hell did I do ? Any ideas or info please help

May want to start by checking your coolant for oil and your oil for coolant also may want to pull the fuel filter to check for debris, water, or perhaps a collapsed filter. Also checking your air cleaner wouldn't be the worst thing. Hope you find something cheap and easy to fix because those are pretty bad symptoms.

@dangerour1965. That's kinda what I figured was just want to poll the knowledge on here just hoping it's not worse. Pretty sure I had a weak injector before this I took it to the stealership and they told me fuel pressure return rate was within spec. I've read some horror stories on here with injectors. This sucks I rollin a minivan until fixed.thanks for the feedback

White smoke is unburned fuel. 3200 rpm is redlined. Sounds bad. Cold temps and runnin hard...maybe lifted the head. Hope not, but I'd check the oil to be sure. good luck.

Update ...my truck did die from multiple issues a couple injectors gave up,one leaking really bad,3 melted pistons ,one top ring broken and shoved through the valve seat leaving a nice quarter inch hole in the head ,cylinder gouged to hell and gone. All fixed up now jus needing to upgrade the tranny
