Default Hp clearification

my buddy has a 04.5 cummins with a built tranny (auto), intake, exhaust, and edge juice with attitude, and the edge is telling him on the dyno results he is putting down 450hp is that correct.

That number has potential to be true, at the flywheel. with the stock turbo on that truck it would be very tough to get those kind of numbers, the turbo is running out of steam on the upper end. its a bit out of its map at that point and is no longer efficient.

If he is a strong believer in those numbers tell him to put his truck on a dyno.
There is alot of factors when i comes to getting a proper reading on horsepower, for anyone to say it is correct is pretty much just a guess. Just like the edge is guessing.

In my opinion those are not accurate numbers

I have found that data loggers and tuners give you a very very loose HP and TQ readings... all it is doing is taking the data it is seeing and assuming what the power would be. when it assumes it is giving you the results of an internal math equation that only applys to a perfect testing situation which will never happen and is impossible.... they will usually give you a flywheel power rating and that is with PERFECT conditions and not taking anything into account that isnt part of its monitoring process.

To put it into perspective... the data logger on one of my cars which is around 200HP at the wheels tells me that i only push like 90 HP and i no thats way off and i have a buddy with an edge on his basically stock 6.0 Chevy gasser and his edge tells him he is pushing like 450HP.... neither if these accounts are even close to the real numbers... however i have seen some pretty close to the actual number... the real answer can only be found on legitimate dyno run by a professional.
