Default 4X4 on the fly or manual

as i am looking for a truck most are manual shift to 4x4 hi and low and a few are electronic switch. I drive a 2000 Ford Excursion 4x4 with the electronic switch and locking hubs. Not in love with that system.

Are there any problems with the electrical system or is the manual a better way to go. Not much discussion on the subject.

Probably just personal preference. mine is manual shift but its easy to reach, easy to shift, i like it. on the electronic shift theres electronics that could hypothetically fail when you need them most. but on the other hand i suppose a linkage could break on a manual shift. i think it just personal taste. Im fond of telling people that my shifter is on the floor where it BELONGS.
