Default Upgrades on a budget

I just purchased my first diesel. 03 2500 and it already had a k and n intake and a few other little upgrades. I was rear ended and had just a little scratch on my bumper. Well my $500 check came from Allstate for repairs and I could care less about a paint chip on a bumper. So I am looking to get some more mpgs out of this beast. Should I upgrade my 3.5" exhaust for a 4 or 5 in? Or buy the smarty jr? Which is the best bang for my buck right now. I don't haul much yet being winter and most of the wood is already stacked. Being new to diesels I don't want to mess it up.

I'd get rid of the k&n for an amsoil dry filter, then a smarty if you don't care about sound

Ok, the k&n is supposed to be terrible for these trucks (oiled filters in general) so the dry filter with a pre filter is great since youve already got the piping, then a smarty will give you a nice boost in power and some more mpgs

Ok, like I said this is my first diesel and I will check out the amsoil filters

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

So the pre filter is like a thin mesh bag that goes over the dry filter correct?
