Ford guy, wife wants to buy Dodge, tomorrow!
So the wife found this awesome Dodge truck for sale. We went to look at it and we both drove it. Gotta say, it almost makes me wish I bought a Dodge (Cummins). I'm a diehard Ford guy, have a 2006 F350 Lariat FX4 DRW 6.0L. The wife has a 2007 F150 FX4. This truck would be for the wife, and if we can swing it with the bank, I'm gonna be jealous.
It's a 2006 Dodge 2500 SLT Mega cab, short bed, 4X4, 6 speed manual. Has a K&N cold air intake, Banks high rise intake elbow, 5" exhaust, and air bags w/ air compressor. Dealer also said it has upgraded air/fuel separator, I didn't look too closely to see if it was a FASS or Airdog system. Not sure what else I may find as far as mods/upgrades.
Honestly, my seat of the pants meter feels my stock 6.0L is faster/has more power, but my God, the sound of that Cummins and the manual tranny wins me over. So, need some advice, what to look for, and just general assurance that I should let the wife get this truck. It's got 126,000 miles and they want $27,500 for it.

Well, KBB says $28,800 is the price from a dealer in excellent condition. Also, I am factoring in the 5" exhaust which appears to be fairly new, new air filter on cold air intake, new wheels and off road tires, new water pump, air bags w/ compressor, in bed gooseneck hitch, tonneau cover, Banks intake elbow, upgraded fuel system, and whatever else it may have done. I know I didn't provide all those details before. And the exterior and interior are in great condition.

Nah that's a pretty general test to check for piston ring blow-by. Just pull the cap or even the dipstick when the engine is running, if you have a lot of smoke puffing out of the hole that's an indicator of bad rings.
