I would just like to know what the 04.5 has for a fuel delivery system. As far as does it utilize an out of the tank lift pump or an in tank sump? Is it variable? Or only variable if tampered with aftermarket-wise. Do they come stock with lift pumps? Do they use both styles? Just curious.. Thanks.

 

The 04.5 came original with a fuel filter bowl - mounted low pressure lift pump...when those failed, the dealer would replace them with the in-tank pump. Either way, they are a fixed delivery...the bowl mounted did about 15 psi at best, and the in tank does around 10 psi.

Once the fuel reaches the CP3 injection pump, it goes through another "low pressure" pump (section) and the high pressure pump (section) for delivery to the fuel rail and ultimately the injectors. The low pressure side of the CP3 is used as the lift pump in certain (non-Dodge) applications.

where might the lift pump be? fuel filter housing? could an after market pump be put in before the filter and if so what kinda pressure should it be? i spect thats what the after market lift pumps do, I`m lookin for quick and less espensive to keep running
