Default Confused

I have 2005 3500 , started losing power. Died a couple times while idling , believe it is my lift pump. Sometimes I hear it running and sometimes it sounds so faint. Since it is in the tank is there a complete system for an upgrade? Everything I look at has more parts and options and questions . Don't want to replace with the same issue for later.

(update) So maybe it could be something else, just ran the pump thru my programmer and it sounds strong , what else could be going on? engine has gotten very quiet, loss of power, smoke has changed from black to very little and greyish. Seems to run better when its cold, starts to get rough after its warming up.

Can you read rail pressure? CP3 may be having issues un plug it and tell me what it does, plug it back in and tell me recovery time.

Default Thanks for the ideas

Unplugged , kept running , plugged back in it took about 12 seconds to smooth all the way back out. Had to do it twice because I freaked out the first time. I don't know what that did but the miss is gone and sounds normal again, see how it is after is all warmed up. Thanks for the help, is 12 a good time ? you could tell it was getting fuel before that, but 12 to even out.

Engine light on now. Two codes, P0251, P2607. Fouls out @ 2300 rpm, so now i am back to thinking lift pump, needs more fuel?

Best off to put a fuel pressure gauge in front of the cp3 and see what your lift pump pressure is when the truck is acting up.

Changed the lift pump, float was hanging on the wires, barbed fitting connecting the second piece of fuel line coming from the pump was cracked. Guess it was sucking air when I was getting bellow 1/2 tank . Or not getting full pressure while shooting it right into the tank. Anyway, back to normal!!

Good to see it fixed, I like my 5" loud but not bad if you drive like a normal human. Drones a bit with a heavy load.
