Default 2005 CUMMINS 3500 DRW to SRW???

looking at a 2005 Cummins. it is a 6 speed manual. I know my 12 valves but still new when it comes to third gens and the common rails. couple things is that I do not need the DRW. I want to build a flat bed and put that on instead of the duelly bed and make it SRW. Main question is if I put stock rims on the back and front if thy will be like a 2500. Or is the rear axle is wider or shorter then a 2500. Any help would be great. Also it has a problem going into 5th gear.

5th gear can be alot of things. Does it just scratch a little or does it grind really bad?? Could be a snychro or 5th gear nut (not sure if the Cr dodges have it but 12 valves do)

Can I convert the DRW axle by just putting stock rims on it? also is there just a front spacer in the front axle like the 12v trucks?

Just no need for one. Two more tires to buy, higher tolls on high way. Is changing the hubs and lug studs a must to do the conversion?

Got it! Sorry bro, Ive never done a conversion. Others will have to chime in for that one. My dad taught me the addage for trucks "go big, you'll have it when you need it, and you'll never be short changed." Im on my third dually.....no regrets.

If you want to use acorn style lug nuts or factory center caps. I did the reverse conversion on a 96 I had , they were too short and broke 2. Yours would be long the back and the offset on the front would be way off, even taking the spacer off, looked on my duallie and it does not look like it would be so simple. If its a good deal keep the dually, your tires will last longer, and the tolls charge per axle not per tire . I think you would like it, build your flatbed skinny and put those super singles on the back
