Just putting a rebuilt stock pump on my 2001 and was wondering what's the best chip to get? I'm not wanting to drag race it or anything- just get better mileage and pull a trailer better when need be. Is there anything I should do while the pump is off? I replaced the lifter cover gasket. Thanks.

 

Make sure tappet cover gasket are real tight. If not, and it blows out, lose a lot of oil very fast.

Edge is bout the best for the vp trucks IMO.

 

yea edge is the best chip for mpg and power. if you dont have gauges, the best is the edge juice but if you do, the edge comp box. if you run a chip, you need a upgraded lift pump. something like a rapter 100 would work good.

 

It all depends on what you want I heard alot of bad things about quads, smartys are nice i had a problem.w my smarty clearing out my pcm so right now im running a superchip n getting around 20 mpg in my 99


And some trucks like timing n others dont

 

edge comp is great. my 1 ton gained A LOT of power and went from 15.3 to 17.4. but get gauges if you dont have them. and if you have an auto it will hate you. on a side note... i always wondered how my cousins truck smoked so much, its cuz it only downshifted when it wanted after a few months with the edge. taking off in 3rd will put out a lot of smoke
